Here at Heartland Garage Builders, it is our philosophy that we are here to educate our customers to the best of our ability and help them make an informed decision about their garage project.
When you book an appointment for HGB to provide an estimate, we ask a few questions so our garage builder consultants can be prepared for the initial appointment. We ask for an accurate plat of survey and an idea of what size garage you would like to build. Our team will let you know if your vision is achievable and provide you with options on how to bring it to life.
HGB consults with Chicagoland’s premier permit coordination company, Mach 1, Inc., on every single project we estimate and/or build. We want to be sure that we can build what you are looking for and what obstacles there could be such as zoning variations, and storm sewer connections as these can drive a sizable portion of the cost.
When an HGB consultant comes to your home to discuss your project they will take full pictures of the property and existing garage if there is one and then listen to you as you describe what you want out of the project. They may even mark out the new garage location to give you a better sense of what the impacts the garage will have on your property.
The most exciting portion of the sales process is discussing what the garage will look like. Trim details, roof-style, siding color, window locations, and lofts for storage are all items we help you pre-plan for and use to determine the final costs of the project.
The HGB consultant will also discuss obstacles that may arise when building your garage that most other builders do not consider. We review potential interferences such as utility lines and trees that may need to be trimmed or removed. Again, our goal is to educate you on the entire process, even if that means having a difficult discussion about removing trees or having a utility company reroute their lines.
How long should it take to get an estimate is a common question we get here at HGB. The answer is quickly. If the project requires HGB to investigate with the village, such as the need for zoning variations or major utility work, this may add to the time it takes to get a full proposal.
After you receive your HGB proposal, we will follow up once you have had time to digest all the information. What HGB will NOT do is badger you, ask what we can do to get you to buy today or use any other typical old-school sales tactics to browbeat you into signing a contract. We want our customers to move forward with HGB because we are straightforward, honest, and answer all their questions!
